Main streaming of out of school children |

Household data on out-of-school children. |

The Education
(School) Department conducted a household and school survey in
the year 2001 for identification of all out-of-school children
in the age group 6-14 years and the existing educational
facilities in the form of primary and upper primary schools,
buildings of schools, drinking water and toilets facilities etc.
For this purpose, the format developed by the Government of
India has been utilised. The data collected in respect of
out-of-school children both never enrolled and dropped out have
been compiled first at the village level and then at the block
levels. It was found that there were a total number of 93,971
out-of-school children in the state. This can be seen in the
following table: |

another survey was conducted for identification of out-of-school
children. The findings of the survey show that from 93,971 the
number has come down to 62,187. This can be seen in the
following table: |

The
detailed information in respect of all the out-of-school
children are now being maintained at the village level in
Village Education Register and at the block levels in Block
Education Registers. During 2004, concerted effort has been made
for enrolment of out-of-school children. At the end of 2005-06,
the number of out-of-school children has come down to 5400. |
